Current available temporary job opportunities:

Pantry Worker/Prep-Cook: assists the culinary and bakery staff in food preparation, execution and service duties in our seasonally-inspired dining venues on campus. Trains on all stations within our dining venues alongside our classically-trained management & supervisory team. Actively participates in a team setting with keen attention to customer service and to culinary and visual detail in support of RISD Dining Service’s mission.

Dining Experience Associate (customer service/cashier): serves customers in a professional and courteous manner and works independently and efficiently to set up and open various campus locations according to the specific requirements of each operation. The ideal candidate has the flexibility to move from one location to the next location as directed by supervisor(s) in order to meet department-wide needs. The DEA handles daily cash receipts and transactions.

Dish Room Attendants (Dishwashers): responsible for maintaining daily operations of dish machine in accordance with proper procedures; maintains cleanliness and sanitation standards for utensils, equipment, etc., using the machine and manual cleaning methods. Also ensures the dishwashing area is maintained as a clean, safe and sanitary facility.

On-Call Caterers-Drivers: Plans, organizes and transports the equipment, supplies, small wares, linens, condiments and other accessory items required for catered events on- and off-campus. Responsible for set-up and visual presentation at assigned events. Operates a light duty motor vehicle in expediting and transporting items needed for catered functions. Perform basic food preparation.

Essential Functions/Duties
Job Qualifications Required

• High School diploma or equivalent combination of experience and education

• Need to possess the ability to work independently with minimal supervision, and the ability to take direction

• The ideal candidate will be friendly, enthusiastic, intuitive, helpful, and a team player. The candidate should also take initiative and have a great work ethic.

• Ability to read, write, and follow written procedures

• Attention to detail

• Must be able to lift 50 lbs.

• Proven ability to interact with members of the community representing diverse backgrounds and interests

Specific Qualifications for Caterers/Drivers: Must hold a valid driver’s license. Experience in food preparation and presentation is preferred. Must be able to communicate effectively.
Job Qualifications Preferred

• One to three years of experience in restaurant, college or cafe-style food service is preferred

• State certification in food safety, with Rhode Island sanitation certificate, preferred

Pre-employment Requirement

The successful candidate will be required to meet our pre-employment background screening requirements.

Other than regular hours (typically 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, Mon-Fri.)

Various schedules available; may include evenings and weekends.
