Job Summary (Overview)

Continuing Education at RISD is seeking an Enrollment Marketing Manager to develop, plan and execute integrated communications and marketing plans. This approach will promote program recruitment and proactively support strategic enrollment needs, driving the direction of RISDCE’s visual presence, while ensuring alignment with the overall RISD brand.

The ideal candidate for this newly created position will possess a substantial record of outstanding design practice, have a sophisticated visual sensibility, and be a strategic thinker and collaborator.

With the goal of increasing the diversity of enrollment and overall retention within all CE programs, the Enrollment Marketing Manager will develop and optimize digital recruitment communications, oversee web and social media channels and the development of print collateral, while adhering to brand and style guidelines and coordinates recruitment campaign related events, including public relations events. As a member of the leadership team, the manager will utilize strong interpersonal skills with internal and external constituents in order to effectively develop and execute enrollment-marketing plans.

In addition, the Enrollment Marketing Manager will allocate and manage the annual CE marketing budget while ensuring outreach goals are met; establish and supervise market research efforts, and analyze the effectiveness of all marketing efforts; and supervise full-time and part-time staff along with freelance marketing, design and production vendors.

Essential Functions/Duties

Design and recommend the RISD CE brand, including how the CE brand fits within the brand of RISD as an institution. Provide creative direction on highly visible CE print and digital projects.

In alignment with the Executive Director’s vision, prioritize CE marketing (print and digital) materials based on key divisional goals. Drive and oversee the development of all CE creative concepts, design implementations, and corresponding production tasks (such as budget projections and project schedules) to ensure work is of a high caliber and consistent with RISD’s design standards. Present marketing and design plans and recommendations, which highlight CE’s unique features and benefits and positively impact enrollment.

Develop and implement all CE public relations initiatives. Attend internal and external events, speaking engagements and other opportunities to promote CE programs. Serve as key point of contact, identify appropriate opportunities for CE presence and brief attending members as appropriate.

Oversee the creation, content and ongoing maintenance of the RISD CE’s websites and social media presence. Track, review, and share site usage analytics and make changes as necessary.

Recommend and disburse the annual marketing budget in order to optimize the reach and cost value for the CE brand. Ascertain and evaluate budgets for individual projects and determine fit within and support from the overall marketing budget. Negotiate pricing with vendors. Provide ongoing analysis of the effectiveness of all marketing efforts.

Proactively conduct internal and external market and enrollment research on existing and prospective programs. Explore marketing venues, enrollment opportunities for growth, and the format and design of communications materials. Monitor the programs of competitive organizations on an ongoing basis.

Keep abreast of current and emerging trends in enrollment management, marketing, graphic design and related fields, evaluating if and how they might be appropriate for RISD|CE, and implementing accordingly. Quickly and proactively ascertain current enrollment trends and anticipate future marketing and design needs.

As an active and engaged member of the Executive Director’s leadership team, help advance and achieve the team’s goals and vision, and foster a strong team culture.

Cultivate and foster positive relationships with colleagues across campus. Select and supervise external vendors and partners with appropriate skills during times of peak volume.

Job Qualifications Required

• A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience in art, design or other creative field.
• Five years progressive experience in the marketing field with demonstrated knowledge of the most current marketing tools, trends, and best practices.
• A strong record of outstanding design practice and a sophisticated visual sensibility.
• Proficiency with database management systems, web/print/video design and production, along with social media and web content analytics experience.
• The ability to create and execute marketing plans for multiple audiences.
• Proven ability to manage strategic execution and optimization of digital marketing campaigns to various audiences across multiple channels.
• Solid understanding of enrollment best practices, tools and strategies and the ability to independently make art & design recommendations that positively impact enrollment.
• Strong leadership, team-building and project management skills are required.
• Must be able to work quickly and efficiently, both independently and as a member of a team.
• Proven ability to interact with members of the community representing diverse backgrounds and interests.
• Must be able to develop and manage marketing plans and budgets.
• Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills and organizational abilities.
• Proven ability to independently provide creative direction, strategy and oversight.
• Knowledgeable in Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office and file management systems.

Job Qualifications Preferred

• Master’s degree or equivalent experience in relevant field.
• Experience with an educational or arts organization.
• Basic photography skills and/or understanding helpful.

Pre-employment Requirement

The successful candidate will be required to meet our pre-employment background screening requirements.

Other than regular hours (typically 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, Mon-Fri.)

Full-time, administrative position. Work hours are not confined to weekdays but also include evenings and weekends as required by deadlines and the schedule of special events.
