RISD Global is pleased to announce a vacancy for a Global Engagement Specialist.

This newly created role will implement the academic institution’s global engagement through multiple off campus learning opportunities, ensuring the successful operation of off campus programs. The Global Engagement Specialist will provide student and faculty with the appropriate support in all phases of the program based on the vision, policies, and best practices developed by the Associate Director, Off-Campus Global Learning.
In addition, the Global Engagement Specialist will manage the portfolio of various off campus programs, both short and long-term, located in different areas around the world.
Utilizing their attention to detail and organizational skills, they will be responsible for overseeing the course logistics and the students’ participation in the off-campus programs from the program’s promotional steps to the student’s return on campus.
With an enthusiastic and curious approach, they will promote the RISD off-campus learning opportunities and ensure outreach to the RISD community and external audiences regarding all global learning opportunities available.
As a Global professional, the Global Engagement Specialist will build relationships and serve as key contact for both RISD community and exchange and international partners, working with RISD departments, faculty and students, as well as exchange and international partner coordinators to ensure a successful global learning experience.

The ideal candidate will be a life-long learner with strong project management skills and the ability to adapt to shifting tasks and priorities.

Essential Functions/Duties

Manage the logistics and operations connected to the off-campus programs, including pre-planning, duration, and post-program debrief, evaluation and follow up.

In accordance with the communication and marketing strategy articulated by the Associate Director, Promote all global learning opportunities to the RISD community of students and faculty, as well as to art and design professionals interested in global engagement trough RISD.

Provide support to students’ in all phases of participation in off-campus programs from application to return, working with both outgoing and incoming exchange students. Advise RISD students on the different global learning opportunities, guide them through the application process and, once enrolled, coach them on both their academic performance and sociocultural adjustment.

Under the guidance and supervision of the Associate Director of Off-Campus Global Learning and the Risk Management Office, ensure that RISD students, faculty, teaching assistants and any individuals enrolled in off campus programs are informed of best practices in health & safety when related to off-campus global learning.

Generate and analyze a wide variety of student and program data and prepare executive summaries which highlight trends and opportunities. Make recommendations on how to improve the departmental course offer based on these analysis.

Job Qualifications Required

• Bachelor’s degree and minimum 3 years’ experience in program and project management.
• Project management and operational planning skills required. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and adapt to shifting priorities, and work collaboratively within and across different art and design disciplines.
• Demonstrated ability and professional experience to comprehend a working environment strongly focused on art and design.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and strong advocacy for global engagement.
• Strong organizational skills, problem-solving skills while performing multidisciplinary tasks are also necessary.

Job Qualifications Preferred

• Multicultural and international experience is preferred. The ability to speak more than one language is desirable, Spanish, Chinese or Korean preferred.
• Experience supervising students or other personnel in an educational setting preferred. Ability to work independently and as a member of a team committed to maintaining an inspirational learning environment preferred.
• Basic graphic design skills are desirable.

Pre-employment Requirement

The successful candidate will be required to meet our pre-employment background screening requirements.

Other than regular hours (typically 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, Mon-Fri.)

Evening hours and occasional weekends are included in this schedule.
